Job Description

Job Purpose
To manage and supervise a construction site in accordance with health and safety guidelines
 
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
  • Organizing materials and ensuring sites are safe and clean.
  • Reporting daily on all activities on the Project sites to the Managing Director.
  • Drawing up work schedules and communicating any adjustments to Management and clients.
  • Compiling project progress reports and delivering presentations to relevant stakeholders.
  • Delegating tasks and scheduling meetings and training sessions where required for site workers
  • Ensuring that quality assurance measures are adopted and provide feedback to Management
  • Track activities against the detailed project plans
  • Monitoring actual expenditure figures against project budget
  • Facilitating project meetings                       
  • Inspecting site regularly to identify and eliminate potential safety hazards.
  • Supervising and instructing team as well as subcontractors.
  • Educating workers on construction safety regulations and accident protocol.
  • Maintaining an accurate record of employee attendance.
  • Evaluating the performance of employees and instituting disciplinary measures as needed.
  • Recommending changes to construction operations or procedures to increase efficiency.

Required Skills or Experience

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION

  • Hold a first degree in building and construction from a recognized tertiary institution
  • Fair Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

TECHNICAL 

  • Sound knowledge of building codes and construction safety regulations.
  • Sound knowledge of Engineering, construction, and design.
  • Working knowledge of construction tools and equipment.
  • The ability to interpret blueprints.
  • Outstanding leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.

MANAGERIAL

  • Ability to supervise team members
  • Ability to set and monitor individual goals as well as motivate team members/workers
  • Ability to give honest and constructive feedback to other team members
  • Ability to let others, make decisions and take charge

PERSONALITY

  • Great leadership and organizational skills.
  • Knowledgeable in Project management skills.
  • Ability to apply logical and critical thinking skills to projects.
  • Great written and verbal communication skills.
