Job Description

Plantations Socfinaf Ghana (PSG) Limited wishes to inform all qualified and interested candidates about a vacant position in its General Management Department : Cook



To effectively and efficiently manage the catering/kitchen services of the Manager designate and his/her immediate family to enable the said Manager put up his/her best with the family’s support to help ensure the Company’s ultimate goal of increasing productivity and expanding its operations.

The position requires exercise of diligence, honesty, integrity and loyalty to the company throughout the period of employment.

Responsible and accountable for any losses that the company may sustain as a result of negligence and/or bad job performance.


  • The job title holder is required to abide by the policies, regulations and operating procedures that the company shall from time to time put in place for effective and efficient performance of its operations.
  • Responsible for general cooking and cleaning duties assigned by the superior.
  • Ensure that care is taken in the preparation or cooking of food in the house.
  • Ensure that good, quality and appropriate cooking materials and ingredients are always used in the preparation of food in the house.
  • To ensure that the cooking utensils as well as the kitchen and the surroundings where food is prepared are always clean by all standards.
  • The job title holder is required to be tidy and clean at all times.
  • To perform any other duties assigned by the Manager designate, the Administration & HR Manager and the Managing Director as and when the situation demands.

Required Skills or Experience

  • Diploma in Advance Catering/Catering II, SSCE or WASSCE Certificate with some professional catering certificate.
  • Minimum of two (2) years post qualification working experience for a Diploma/Advance Catering II holder and three (3) years working experience for an SSCE or a WASSCE Certificate holder.


  • Knowledge in managing people.
  • Nutritional resources management skills.
  • Knowledge in the preparation of variety of dishes (Local and continental).
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical skills.


  • Knowledge in family management.
  • Knowledge in home management.
  • Knowledge in preparation of both local and continental dishes.
  • Knowledge in diet management especially for expatriates.


  • Results oriented.
  • Good ‘people’ management
  • Good relationship with the Manager designate, his/her immediate family and guests.
