JOB OVERVIEW
We are looking for a Special Education Needs Teacher to join our team of experienced educators.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching  students with special needs. You will modify existing curriculum on basic subjects (e.g. numeracy, literature, etc.) to meet each student’s learning requirements and build individual lesson plans tailored to their specific needs. You will also discuss with supervisors important matters that might impede students’ progress. Ultimately, you will help and inspire children to achieve important learning milestones.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• To carry out classroom observations and assess objectively students who have been identified as needing learning support.
• Work with the headmistress and Academic Coordinator to ensure there is high quality teaching and intervention for children with SEN
• To develop and implement Individual Education Plan’s (IEP) for students identified as needy.
• To  advise on the deployment of the school’s delegated budget and other resources to meet pupils’ needs effectively
• To ensure regular communication with teachers; share information and plans.
• To suggest where needed modifications to the curriculum for students with SEN
• Track and monitor the progress of children with SEN
• To work in collaboration of teachers and other professionals. Such as educational psychologists, Speech and Language Therapist , Occupational etc.
• To provide in-service to teachers on meeting individual needs.
• To assist classroom teachers with strategies to differentiate in the classroom.
• To assist students with strategies to minimize or overcome their difficulties
• To be in compliance with the Teacher Work Schedule and the Staff Professional Code of Conduct.
•  To cultivate a close working relationship with the Academic Administrator and other staff in your department who will guide, advise and assess the effectiveness of the teaching and learning environment.
• To be in attendance to all staff meetings as required

Required Skills or Experience

• Proven experience as a Special Education Teacher or relevant role
• Good knowledge of current special education topics and methodologies
• Experience working with children with special needs
• A patient, resourceful, and resilient personality
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
