Job Description

  • Duty Station: Head Office - Tamale 
  • Reporting to: Executive Director with a dotted line to the Head of Finance and Operations.
  • Level: 3
 
Position Purpose 
Reporting to the Head of Finance and Operations, the People and Culture Lead is responsible for ensuring the strategic, effective, and legal human resources practices and policies throughout the organization. The role is responsible for delivering HR strategies and initiatives that drive the culture and performance of Norsaac Team. The role will be responsible for developing and maintaining an environment where individuals and the organization can thrive as we continue to grow & scale. This role is one that will support and align with the organization’s business goals, objectives, and strategies while also honoring everyone's contribution to and journey at Norsaac.
 
The People and Culture Lead will oversee people and culture functions including employee ad labour relations, recruitment and selection, training and development, compensation and benefits, performance management, occupational health and safety and regulations compliance.
 
Major Responsibilities 
Responsibilities/Duties:
  • Participate as a key member of the Extended Management Team, providing best practice advice, support and insights for the Norsaac work. 
  • Manage our benefit offerings and lead annual open enrolment for all employees, own our employee performance management & evaluation process via Build and communicate the value proposition, benefits and employee experience of Norsaac and its work.
  • Ensure Norsaac has the talent necessary to achieve its ambitious objectives through robust workforce planning and organization design, recruitment, development and retention activities 
  • including: health insurance, wellness and engagement initiatives, and other rewards programs that are competitive and comprehensive.
  • Develop and implement effective organization wide human initiatives, policies and processes. 
  • Lead the implementation of HR strategies; both existing and new ones 
  • Balance the focus on strategic requirement with overall People and Culture governance 
  •  Bridging management and employee relations by addressing demands, grievances or other issues
  • Drive a performance culture by ensuring strong cohesion in the entire performance management cycle
  • Regularly seek both formal and informal feedback from all teams in order to improve employee engagement and employee performance
  • Develop and roll out effective Learning & Development opportunities for all employees.
  • Provide best practice advice and guidance to the Leadership team and managers on key people trends and issues
  • Build and analyze HR metrics to enable decision making and reporting to the Board and Leadership team
  • Manage all employees' relations matters.
  • Continuously improve the Employer Value Proposition to attract high quality talent. 
  • Drive employee engagement programmes to ensure an inclusive and supportive culture.
  • Work with leadership team on all Talent Management deliverables 
  • Oversee compensation and benefits to ensure equitable pay compliance 
  • Be a key support to leaders as they go through change
  • Assist with organizational change in conjunction with shifts in Culture, Strategy, process and Culture
Decisions position is free to make 
  • Prioritizing work responsibilities, including short- and long-term assignments
  • Development of plans to respond to job mandate
  • Accessing and utilizing the various platforms available to obtain information which will assist in decision making. 
  • Take calculated decisions on issues within JD and account fully for gains or losses thereof.
  • Inform Management of any issues with potential to impact on organizational poor culture 
  • Determine appropriate course of action to be taken on issues related to people and culture management 
  • Recommend administrative changes in policies and/or procedures and systems for effective organizational development.

Required Skills or Experience

  • A BSc/BA degree from an accredited university with 5 years' experience in similar role.
  • A master's degree with 3 years' experience in a similar position. 
  • HR professional certification is an added advantage.  
  • Years of proven experience in managing people in senior management role.  
  • Years of proven experience with development organizations, NGOs, etc 
  • Proven history of national and international quality standards in People and Culture Management.
  •  Able to work effectively under tight deadlines and high-quality deliverables ‘ 
  • Commitment to quality assurance procedures and risk mitigation measures.   
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to facilitate collaboration among diverse groups  
  • Current knowledge of HR industry trends, relevant legislation (Human Rights Code, Labour Laws, Employment  
  • Good verbal and written communication skills 
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Excited about leveraging on technology to solve problems. 
  • Ability to work with cross functions of leaders and staff to achieve a common goal.
  • Proficient computer skills; organized with excellent attention to details.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
