Job Description



CDO, together with the La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Assembly (LaNMMA) and the Tree Crops Center (TCC), is implementing the Coconut Waste Project (COWAP) funded by the European Union (EU) under its “Promoting a Circular Economy and Local Development Programme”. The project seeks to achieve a green-circular economy and create livelihood opportunities through value addition to coconut husks in the La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipality (LANMM).
 
A key objective of the project is to aggregate coconut waste within the project area and its environs to be processed into value-added products (cocopeat, coir fiber, and coconut shells) at its processing facility, the Coco-Waste Hub. In line with this endeavor, Coco-Waste Hub Limited is currently recruiting a proficient Facility Manager to oversee and manage the day-to-day activities within the facility.
 
Duties and Responsibilities
The hired candidate will be responsible for the following: 
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Hiring, training, and managing factory staff, including supervisors, operators, technicians, and other employees.
  • Planning, organizing, and managing production activities to ensure products are manufactured efficiently, on schedule, and in accordance with quality standards.
  • Allocating resources such as labour, machinery, and materials to maximize production output while minimizing costs.
  • Ensuring that products meet quality specifications and regulatory requirements by implementing quality control measures and inspection processes.
  • Identifying areas for process optimization and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Coordinating with suppliers to ensure a steady supply of raw materials and components necessary for production.
  • Overseeing the maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment to prevent downtime and ensure optimal functioning.
  • Tracking production performance metrics, analysing data, and implementing corrective actions when necessary to meet production targets.
  • Managing inventory to prevent stockouts or overstock situations and optimizing inventory turnover.
  • Developing and managing budgets for production operations, tracking expenses, and finding ways to reduce costs.
  • Effectively communicating with various departments, senior management, and stakeholders to ensure alignment and smooth operations.
  • Ensuring compliance with industry regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
  • Addressing operational challenges and resolving issues that may arise during production processes.
  • Contributing to the development of long-term strategies for production, growth, and expansion.
  • Implementing environmentally sustainable practices to minimize the facility's impact on the environment.
  • Ensuring that production schedules are aligned with customer demands to maintain timely delivery of products.

Required Skills or Experience

  • A Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration, or equivalent qualification. 
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations and protocols to ensure a safe working environment for employees. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), SAP, and POKA applications.
  • Prior experience in a leadership or managerial role is essential.
  • Good communication skills and a team player
  • A strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production techniques, and quality control standards will be an added advantage.
  • Experience in the manufacturing industry is an added advantage. 
  • Applicants must be living within the municipality (LaNMM) in which the factory is located or in neighboring municipalities. 
Work Location
  • Onsite at Coco-Waste Hub Limited, Danfa, La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipality, Greater Accra Region.
