JOB SUMMARY
A reputable organization seeks to employ a Pest Control, Horticulture, and Landscaping Officer. 
The purpose of this position is to perform responsible work in inspecting for, locating, and identifying suspected or reported infestation by insects, rodents, and other pests, determining appropriate eradication and control measures, and implementing those measures effectively. Embarks on Horticulture and Landscaping activities.

PESTS CONTROL - ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Develops a plan for the control of insects, rodents, pests, and weeds adhering to all the regulations and laws of the Republic of Ghana.
• Conducts inspections to determine type and degree of infestation.
• Prescribes control measures.
• Calculates amount of chemicals needed and supervises the mixing and use of chemicals and pesticides.
• Meets with upper level management personnel to discuss problems, plans, and counter measures.
• Repairs areas in foundation through which pests are entering.
• Liaison with external pest control services.
• Audits effectiveness of control measures.
• Maintain records of activities and prepares summary reports.
• Respond to work orders.
• Inspect property to ascertain wall and roof porosity and possible sites of pest invasion.
• Access infested locations and prepare budget.
• Study preliminary reports and diagrams of infested area and determine treatment type required to eliminate and prevent recurrence of infestation.
• Measure area dimensions requiring treatment.
• Determine the type of treatment needed to eliminate pests
• Take the required measurement of the area in need of treatment
• Estimate the cost of services rendered to clients or customers
• Determining the kind of treatment required to eliminate a particular type of pest
• Advising customers on the kind of treatment required to eliminate identified pests
• Inspecting customers’ premises to identify pest challenges

HORTICULTURE AND LANDSCAPING DUTIES

• Supervise the technicians to maintain all our client locations per the agreed standard
• Gardens, lawns and flowers must be pruned properly and on schedule.
• Supervise the technicians to work to meet the expectations of the clients.
• Supervise the technicians to put on the prescribed PPEs when on duty.
• Monitor the attendance of the technicians at work
• Supervise and monitor the entire horticulture and landscaping activities.
• Provides professional advice on the selection, ordering, planting, and maintenance of trees, shrubs, ground covers, and turf grasses.
• Train and supervise subordinate personnel in landscaping operations and in the proper methods and techniques of planting ornamental plants and techniques of pruning, wound dressing, cavity repair, and the cabling and bracing of trees and shrubs
• Prepares orders for various types of plants and seeds.
• Inventories, maps, and labels trees and shrubs on clients’ premises for instructional and maintenance purposes.
• Performs related duties as required.

Required Skills or Experience

• Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in inspecting for and determining the genus and type of pest, prescribing treatment procedures, methods, chemicals, and pesticides to be used and applied, and accomplishing these procedures.
• A degree in chemical engineering, Chemistry or related discipline.
• Experience in Horticulture and landscaping is a plus.
• Any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
• Must be detailed oriented and be able to follow detailed instructions in applying pesticide to avoid harm to the client and self
• Must possess good customer service skills and be customer-focused
• Strong ability to keep good records of chemicals used
• Good organizational and planning skills.
