Job Description

The Anglican Diocesan Development and Relief Organization (ADDRO) is seeking a suitably qualified candidate for the Agriculture and Livelihood Coordinator (ALC) position. Details of the position are as follows.
  • Job Title: Agriculture and Livelihood Coordinator (ALC)
  • Location/station: Bolgatanga, Upper East Region 
  • Reporting line: Executive Director/Head of Program
  • Salary and Benefits: Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
Job Purpose
The Agriculture and Livelihood Coordinator is a management staff responsible for promoting and implementing the Agriculture and Livelihood program. The position provides leadership, coordination, and oversight of the projects and the project teams and is accountable to the Head of Programmes. It involves motivating and supervising Project Officers and Field Officers as well as monitoring ongoing projects to ensure that program plans and project activities are implemented with efficiency and effectiveness. The position requires establishing and maintaining excellent working relationships with key program stakeholders including the government, civil society partners, and other relevant collaborators.
 
Functions / Key Responsibilities

The key responsibilities and functions of the Agriculture and Livelihood Coordinator include: 
  • Supervise Project and Field Officers
  • Initiate plans, coordinate, and monitor program implementation
  • Prepare and present annual Agriculture and Livelihood Programme plans and implementation strategies.
  • Identify staff capacity needs and recommend capacity-building workshops for staff under the program.
  • Ensure timely preparations and submission of reports on the programme to the Head of Programmes  
  • Collaborate with other relevant partners in the Agriculture and Livelihood Sector  
  • Support in proposal writing or resource mobilization for the program
  • Perform any other duties as the BOD/Management may direct in the interest of the Organization. 

Required Skills or Experience

Education
  • A bachelor’s degree in either agriculture, agribusiness, development studies, or project management, 
  • A master’s degree is an added advantage.
Experience
  • At least Six years of work experience in agriculture, livelihood, climate change, food security, or community development.
  • At least Three years of experience in a leading or management position.
  • Knowledge of the Upper East Region’s culture is an added advantage.
  • Experience using Social Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) and other participatory approaches.  
  • Proven skills in critical thinking, and strong competency in conceptualizing and designing program interventions/strategies. 
  • Ability to undertake regular field visits and interact with stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability in report writing and presentation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer skills. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)  
  • Excellent organizational and management skills
  • Must have a proactive attitude: willingness and ability to take initiative.
  • Ability to recognize and analyze problems and develop solutions to them
Competencies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication including written and spoken fluency in at least one local language of the ADDRO operational area
  • Good leadership and strong interpersonal relationship
  • Proven ability to be a good team player and willingness to take on additional responsibilities as required
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, plan, and carry out activities within deadlines
  • Excellent analytical, monitoring, evaluation, project management and report-writing skills
  • Proactive, results-oriented, innovative, versatile, and self-motivated.
  • Willingness to travel in all parts of the country
  • Familiarity and experience working with NGOs and CSOs in Ghana
  • Willingness to work in hard-to-reach areas, with frequent field visits as necessary
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Ability to manage a wide, varied, and changing workload, prioritize effectively, and deliver within deadlines
  • Strong team player with the ability to quickly establish and build effective working relationships with people at all levels, from different backgrounds
  • Pro-active approach to identifying and resolving problems
  • Computer literate; proficient user of MS Office programs including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Language Requirements
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and at least one local language of the operational areas: Gurune, Kusaal, Talensi, Dagbanli, Dagaare, etc
Travel
  • The Programme Coordinator’s role will involve significant domestic travel
Age
  • Not less than 35 years
