Job Description

  • Job reports to: Sample Preparation Leader

Job Purpose
The Sample Operator will perform activities assigned to him/her by the supervisor in-charge in an efficient and effective manner in compliance with Company’s requirements, best practice and statutory obligations to achieve daily safe production targets. This will include receiving and organizing samples for analytical testing.
 
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Comply with all health, safety, environment, and human resource policies relevant to your work area and report all incidence that occur at the work area to the supervisor.
  • Ensures compliance with the use of prescribed PPE’s and ensure to conduct a task risk assessment before commencement of any tasks and report any unsafe act or condition/hazard to their supervisor.
  • Ensures proper sample handling and data records to ensure the traceability of samples and data.
  • Prepares samples accurately according to raw material requirements and process requirements and ensure that the operation is carried out according to process requirements.
  • Arranges the sample preparation process reasonably according to the production plan to ensure the timely supply of samples.
  • Accurately record the relevant information of the sample, fill in the relevant record forms, organize and archive the sample records regularly to ensure the safety and integrity of the sample records.
  • Use relevant instruments and equipment to test the samples to ensure their physical properties meet the requirements of analysis and testing line with process requirements.
  • Strictly control the quality of the samples according to the standard operating procedure.
  • Manage and keep confidential the results, information of tests and other contents within the approved team on need-to-know basis. Ensuring confidentiality of technical information and trade secrets is essential.
  • Performs any other related duties based on the exigencies of the Company as assigned by the Supervisor.

Required Skills or Experience

Minimum qualification (s)

  • WASSCE or relevant high school/trades certificate.
  • Certificate or proof of training in Ore Sample Preparation will be an advantage.

Experience

  • 2 years working experience in Sample Preparation works in gold mineral processing.
  • At least 1 year of experience in sampling preparation in a gold mining environment.

Knowledge

  • Ability to read and write in English language and analyze samples.
  • Familiar with sample preparation workflow and related quality control requirements.
  • Good understanding of hazards and risk associated with Assay Laboratory operations especially sample preparation.
  • Understanding of chemical handling, storage, usage, and disposal.
  • Familiar with the sample preparation process, understand the professional work, the purpose of sample preparation and operation procedures.
  • Familiar with sample preparation facilities and environmental conditions meet the requirements of sample preparation.
  • familiar with the use and maintenance of sample preparation equipment and understand equipment repair and other tasks.

Skills

  • Good team playing and with good observation skills and with good initiative spirit.
  • Ability to operate multiple sample equipment use for ore sample preparation with good problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to perform activities involving repetitive motion and manually handle load of appropriate weight. Strong communication and problem-solving skills, able to timely report and resolve abnormal situations in the sample preparation process.
