Job Description

A progressive life insurance company has an exciting opportunity for experienced and proactive and committed IT professional to join our dynamic growing team to handle the following role: IT MANAGER

JOB PURPOSE

The role holder

  • leads the organization’s technology strategy, execution, and operations.
  • manage key vendor relationships, define, scale, and operate processes along with project management excellence.
  • ensures the efficient operation of all IT services, managing IT staff and implementing technology solutions to support business goals

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide leadership in technology portfolio for enablement and innovation.
  • Manage a portfolio of technology projects to meet cost, scope, and schedule constraints.
  • Develop key performance indicators and Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
  • Develop, implement and maintain IT policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Define the enterprise architecture in conjunction with current and future requirements.
  • Manage and support delivery of software, hardware operations and projects
  • Enable process efficiency of back-office operations.
  • Drive innovation for front office or core business operations by recommending viable technologies.
  • Lead, mentor and manage the IT Team, ensuring staff is adequately trained and equipped to provide exceptional IT Support.
  • Work closely with department heads to understand IT needs and provide tailored technology solutions
  • Identify and manage external vendors in the delivery of contracted work.
  • Respond to technical queries and assist staff on reported problems in various business units.

Required Skills or Experience

KEY COMPETENCIES

  • Excellent knowledge/understanding of IT Infrastructure management.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders and work effectively with all categories of employees.
  • Strong communication (oral/written), presentation and editorial skills.
  • High sense of integrity and efficiency.
  • Analytical thinking & problem-solving skills
  • Excellent listening & questioning skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in budgeting, IT strategy, vendor management

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of a first degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field from a recognized tertiary institution with 8-10 years’ related work experience.
  • Poven experience (5+ years) in IT Management
  • Master’s degree in IT, Business Administration or related field
  • Prior experience in the life insurance industry will be a plus.
