LONG TERM CONSULTANT (AGRIC FINANCING/GENDER FINANCING)
Our client seeks experienced consultants for short- to-medium-term assignments in the banking and non-banking financial sector.
Required Skills or Experience
Professional Experience
- A minimum of 10–15 years of experience working in financial institutions.
- Proven expertise in credit and lending to MSMEs (including women and vulnerable groups).
- Applicants should have a proven and successful track record in leading operational improvements, financial product development and innovation, process reengineering, sales and marketing within financial institutions serving the MSME sector.
- Experience in Agricultural Lending and Gender Finance is a plus.
- Demonstrated experience in risk and credit management, especially updating and optimizing underwriting practices, designing credit scoring systems, and portfolio risk monitoring.
- Familiarity with developing risk mitigation strategies tailored to MSME lending environments is essential.
- Proven expertise in leveraging digital tools to streamline workflow processes—from loan origination to monitoring and reporting.
- Proven expertise in developing strategic sales and marketing strategies to target the MSME sector with financial products.
- Experience with system integrations or digital banking transformations is highly desirable.
- Experience in staff training and mentoring.
Educational & Professional Credentials
- At least a master’s degree (or higher) in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Development Studies, or a related field is recommended.
- Certifications in Risk Management, Project Management (e.g., PMP), Digital Transformation, or specialized financial certifications (e.g., CFA) is a plus
Technical and Business Skills
- Ability to conduct comprehensive diagnostic assessments and develop data-driven transformation roadmaps.
- Strong analytical skills to track KPIs, measure performance improvements, and iterate on solutions.
- Experience in implementing efficient and practical process improvements.
- Experience in designing and piloting new MSME lending products with a focus on flexibility in documentation and collateral requirements.
- Conversant in modern digital banking solutions and data analytics tools.
- In-depth understanding of general regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements for financial institutions.
- Specific knowledge of the applicable regulations and framework to Non-Bank Financial Institutions (NBFIs) in Ghana is highly desirable.
- In-depth knowledge of the legal and regulatory environment governing MSME lending, ensuring that transformation initiatives align with current laws, guidelines, and best practices.
Soft Skills and Personal Attributes
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with senior management, board members, and operational teams.
- Experience working in emerging markets, with a deep understanding of local business dynamics and regulatory environments.
- Must be proactive and a result- oriented professional who appreciates accountability.
- Ability to adapt strategies to the cultural and operational nuances of a Non-Bank Financial Institution in Ghana.
- Adopts a strategic, and agile approach to problem-solving, with a solid emphasis on delivering measurable results and sustaining long-term improvements.
- A track record of empowering teams through hands-on mentoring and capacity building.
