Job Description

Position Overview

The Head of Development is responsible for overseeing the conceptualization, planning, and execution of all construction projects within Rohu Construction Company, ensuring that both road and housing developments are designed, engineered, and constructed to meet the highest industry standards. This role leads a multidisciplinary team of engineers, architects, MEP managers, infrastructure specialists, and project consultants, ensuring seamless coordination between design, construction, and operational teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the end-to-end development process for all road and housing projects, from feasibility and conceptual design through execution and handover.
  • Develop project timelines, resource plans, and budgets in alignment with company objectives and client requirements.
  • Ensure that all designs are optimized for efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability.
  • Manage and coordinate a multidisciplinary team of engineers, architects, MEP managers, infrastructure specialists, and consultants to ensure cohesive project delivery..
  • Ensure that all permits, regulatory approvals, and zoning requirements are met before project execution.
  • Review and approve design concepts and engineering solutions, ensuring compliance with industry standards, building codes, and sustainability requirements.
  • Enforce high standards for construction quality, safety practices, and regulatory compliance across all project sites.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the company, clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and community stakeholders.
  • Work closely with procurement teams to select cost-effective, durable materials and technologies.
  • Monitor project risks, costs, schedules, and performance metrics to ensure timely and within-budget delivery.
  • Conduct regular site visits and inspections to ensure quality control and compliance with safety standards.
  • Integrate sustainable building solutions, including renewable energy, water conservation systems, and eco-friendly materials.

Required Skills or Experience

  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Project Management, or a related field (required).
  • Professional certification such as PMP (Project Management Professional), PMI-SP, or relevant engineering licenses (e.g., PE, COREN, GhIE) is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in construction project development and management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or management role.
  • Proven track record in successfully delivering large-scale road and housing construction projects from inception to completion.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary teams including architects, engineers, MEP specialists, and external consultants.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, design coordination, engineering standards, safety regulations, and quality control.
  • Proficient in using project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6) and construction design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).
  • Familiarity with local and international building codes, zoning regulations, and environmental standards.
  • Exceptional leadership and organizational skills with the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for coordinating across departments, clients, regulatory bodies, and contractors.
  • Financial acumen with experience in budget planning, cost estimation, contract negotiation, and risk management.
