Job Description
- CONTRACT TYPE: Full Time – Permanent
- LOCATION: Abrewapong – 1 hour away from Asante Akyem Agogo Ashanti Region-Ghana.
- REPORTS TO: Senior Finance Manager (Ecoplanet Bamboo Western -Africa)
EcoPlanet Bamboo operates in the Juaso forest reserves located outside Asante Akyem Agogo, in the Ashanti region of Ghana. We are currently offering a great opportunity for An Accountant to join our Finance Team.
Role Overview
As an Accountant, you will provide essential financial support to our operations in Ghana, ensuring compliance with local regulations and adherence to EcoPlanet Bamboo's financial standards. This role requires a proactive individual capable of managing day-to-day accounting functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and update general ledgers and chart of accounts, ensuring accurate recording of all financial transactions and maintenance of documentation for auditing and regulatory purposes.
- Prepare monthly Bank, Petty Cash, and Mobile Money accounts Reconciliation statements.
- Reconcile accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
- Ensure all company fixed assets are accurately recorded, tracked, and maintained in compliance with financial reporting standards and internal control procedures.
- Assist the SFM to implement and maintain sound financial management systems and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all local tax regulations.
- Process staff monthly payroll accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with local labor laws.
- Maintain records of employee benefits and deductions, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Review request for all payments and ensure adherence to procurement procedures.
- Assist in financial analysis to support decision-making and operational improvements.
- Maintain a filing system of financial documents, both digital and in hard copy.
Required Skills or Experience
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of finance and administration experience.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and QuickBooks accounting software.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and local tax regulations.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to work under pressure.
- Excellent written and spoken English; proficiency in local languages is a plus.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and demonstrate integrity in all financial dealings.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in accounting (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, IPA, ICA).
- Familiarity with procurement and inventory management systems.
