Advans is a leading microfinance group established in 2005. Advans mission is to respond to the need for financial services of small businesses and other populations who have ill-adapted, limited or no access to formal financial services. The Advans Group currently spans nine countries: Cambodia, Cameroon, Ghana, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Pakistan, Nigeria, Tunisia and Myanmar. Advans Ghana, subsidiary of the international microfinance group Advans, started its activities in 2008. The institution offers a full range of adapted financial products and services to micro, small and medium sized enterprises in Ghana. The institution serves more than 64,000 clients through a network of 20 points of sale and over 650 employees.

Job Description

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and ensure timely submission to stakeholders.
• Oversee the preparation of regulatory reports to the Bank of Ghana and other relevant authorities.
• Support budgeting and forecasting activities, including variance analysis and management recommendations.
• Ensure accuracy and compliance of the general ledger, sub-ledgers, trial balances, and other financial records.

• Monitor and manage company cash flows and liquidity.
• Maintain strong banking relationships and ensure effective treasury planning.
• Oversee bank reconciliations and foreign currency transactions.

• Support the budgeting process and ensure effective cost-control measures are in place.
• Monitor expenses against budgets and analyse financial performance.

• Ensure compliance with tax laws, pension regulations, and financial reporting requirements.
• Support internal and external audits and implement recommendations.

• Supervise accounting and finance team members, ensuring continuous development and motivation.
• Provide financial advice and insights to other departments and senior management.

• Provide accurate and timely financial information to internal and external users.
• Supervise finance department activities to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.
• Monitor compliance with statutory and internal financial policies.
• Support business strategy through financial analysis and advice.

• Ability to manage tight deadlines under pressure.
• May require working outside of standard business hours.

Required Skills or Experience

Minimum Education

• Fully qualified accountant (CA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent).

• At least 5 years of relevant experience in financial management.
• Experience in financial services, preferably within a microfinance or banking institution, is an advantage.
