Job Summary
We are looking for a detail-oriented and reliable Laboratory Technician to join our medical laboratory team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing routine and specialized laboratory tests to assist in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases. The Lab Technician will ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with all health and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Sample Handling & Preparation
- Collect, label, and prepare patient specimens (blood, urine, stool, etc.) for analysis.
- Ensure proper storage and transportation of specimens.
Testing & Analysis
- Conduct routine tests in areas such as hematology, chemistry, microbiology, serology, and urinalysis.
- Operate and calibrate laboratory equipment, such as analyzers, microscopes, and centrifuges.
- Record and analyze test results accurately.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate logs, test results, and patient records using laboratory information systems (LIS).
- Report abnormal or critical findings promptly to the relevant healthcare providers.
Quality Assurance & Safety
- Adhere to quality control protocols and participate in internal and external quality assessments.
- Follow proper procedures for specimen disposal, chemical handling, and infection control.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Equipment Maintenance
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of lab instruments.
- Troubleshoot minor equipment issues and escalate as needed.
Required Skills or Experience
Qualifications
- Degree/Masters in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent.
- Certification from a recognized body (e.g., ASCP, AMT, or local licensing authority) preferred.
- 1–2 years of experience in a clinical or diagnostic lab is an advantage (new graduates may apply).
- Familiarity with laboratory safety procedures and quality assurance protocols.
