Job Description
- Regional Manager – South East Region
(Areas of operation include: Oti, Volta, Eastern & Greater Accra)
- Location: Accra
- Number of positions: 1
- Job Grade: 15
Purpose
The Regional Manager is responsible for the managing a cluster of branches in a defined zone to deliver set institutional objectives. The role shall offer leadership to a team of staff to deliver services and in strict accordance with the Institutions' Standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Business Development
- Lead the implementation of institutional strategies to realise business objectives of the region
- Supervise a network of branches to deliver products and services to target clients in the region
- Devise and guide the implementation of marketing strategies to achieve all business objectives
- Prepare Regional business plans and budgets
- Identify new markets for expansion to achieve scale and impact
- Assess competitor environment through surveys and coordination of research activities and feedback to relevant departments for further action.
- Use market information to position the institution competitively in the market and deliver solutions to position the institution competitively
- Provide guidance and support to the branch managers on business development activities
- Actively engage staff by equipping them with the needed skill set to drive business objectives
- Support client service manager in all administrative functions within the branch
- Operations
- Participate in the process of strategic planning for programme implementation, expansion and sustainability
- Ensure all branch processes and procedures are consistent with institutional policies and procedures
- Ensure that all credit products are delivered to clients within acceptable terms and conditions
- Monitor branch activities to ensure full compliance with institutional policies
- Appraise and Approve loans as defined in the institutional approval limits
- Reviews loan agreements to ensure that they are complete and accurate according to policy
- Review and recommend possible adjustment and improvement of credit methodology to Senior management
- Lead the management of portfolio quality by working with branches and team members to ensure recovery of loans advanced to clients
- Advise SLT on key market and industry risks to shape formulation on Institutional strategies
- Ensure full recovery of all loans disbursed to clients
- Conducts regular audit of branch managers
- Coordinates follow-up of delinquent clients
- Ensures that all disbursements and repayment of loans are monitored and tracked
- Ensures the accuracy of loan portfolio information in the computerized/manual system
- Finance
- Monitors all branches bank reconciliations
- Ensures the monitoring and reconciliation of all records or paper trail from client’s appraisal through credit committee, disbursements and to repayments on a regular basis
- Ensures that proper books of accounts are kept by the branches
- Ensure the operational and financial sustainability of all branches
- People & Culture
- Lead teams to unearth the potentials of branch staff
- Support the Operations Manager in Training of Field Staff
- Support the P&C department in the recruitment of staff for Branches within the Region
- Liaise with P&C to ensure safety and wellness in the branches
- Understand the challenges of branch managers by regular communications with them and liaise with relevant departments/managers to provide the needed support
- Monitor the performance of Branch Managers to ensure high quality portfolio, low delinquency, and minimal default rate
- Conduct staff appraisals
- Ensure high levels of discipline amongst all staff
- Integration
- Coordinate all activities aimed at integration with World Vision Ghana
- Guide Branch managers on Savings Groups linkages and Value Chain activities to drive successful integration with World Vision Ghana and other partners
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of all Integration activities as required
- Ensure that Branch managers attend regular meetings with WVG
- Attend monthly and quarterly meetings with WVG
- Provide monthly / quarterly reports to SLT as required
- Liaise with the Marketing team to ensure that integration activities are correctly captured and communicated in relevant marketing materials
Required Skills or Experience
Qualification
- A minimum of a first bachelor’s degree plus certification in Business
development/Marketing
- A Master’s degree in a Microfinance/ business development course is an advantage
- A good understanding of credit risk management, accounting and a flair for marketing will be an added advantage.
- At least three years’ experience in similar position
Required Skills
- Must have good business development skills and relate well with people from diverse
- backgrounds
- Must have a good knowledge in microfinance methodologies, products and services
- Must be very conversant with VF Ghana’s core objectives and business model
- Must be dynamic, innovative and self-motivated
- Must be willing and able to work effectively under pressure and be goal oriented
- Must have strong organisational abilities
