International Cocoa Initiative (ICI) (www.cocoainitiative.org) is a multi-stakeholder organization, uniting the forces of civil society, certifiers, the cocoa and chocolate industry, and international institutions, and working with governments to address child and forced labour in the cocoa sector.
ICI has developed a Child Labour Monitoring and Remediation System (CLMRS) that allows industry partners to manage responsibly the risk of child labour in their cocoa supply chain.
Job Description
As part of the ICI’s objectives to eliminate the worst forms of child labour and forced labour in the cocoa sector and its overall programme to promote children’s rights and child protection in the cocoa supply chain, ICI seeks to engage Field Supervisor for the Country Office in Ghana, who will be based in one of the ICI operational districts.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
Based at the district level, under the authority of the Country Director and direct supervision of ICI Project Manager for the defined Project, the incumbent will:
1. Advocacy and Stakeholder engagement
- Ensure a field-based collaboration with relevant partners
- Represent ICI at programme and project functions and meetings as agreed with the Project Manager
- Ensure the liaison between ICI in Accra, regional stakeholders, and local authorities.
2. Project Management
- Ensure the execution of the activities according to the project planning and the respect of the methods of project by all actors involved
- Ensure consistent implementation of the guidelines and policies established by ICI Foundation.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and updates on project activities.
- Participate in monthly or ad hoc internal coordination meetings between ICI Accra and project partners to discuss project implementation progress and challenges.
- Support in the documentation of learnings, good practices, tools, and training material
- Collect, analyze, and transmit all relevant information from the field to ensure regular reporting to the Deputy Country Director/Programme Coordinator and Project Manager on project progress and prepare technical reports.
- Ensure proper set-up and roll-out of the CLMRS in the assigned geographical areas, specifically:
- Supervise the activities of Partners Field Staff in the implementation of CLMRS
- Training of partners' Field Staff on child and forced labour concepts and CLMRS implementation
- Provide ongoing technical support to partners' field staff, ensuring that they fulfil their terms of reference
- Pro-actively monitor KPIs for the area under his/her responsibility and pro-actively work towards their improvement
- Support the setup of Community Labour Protection Committees (CLPC) and their linkages with the relevant district authorities.
- Monitor the activities of Community Labour Protection Committees in the project communities and submit a monitoring report to the Supervisors.
3. Capacity Building
- Conduct refresher training for partners, Field Staff Support, and community-level awareness-raising sessions on child labour and forced labour
- Advise on remediation strategies and follow up on the implementation of remediation activities
- Ensure that all farmers participating in the CLMRS projects understand and sign the consent form
4. Mission support and other duties
Support the organization of ICI missions and visits to project areas.
Work on any other related tasks and perform any other duties as required by the Supply Chain Project Manager and agreed by the Deputy Country Director/Programme Coordinator
Organize the logistics around the field visits of ICI staff from Accra and Geneva or industry partners.

Education and work experience
Essential
- University degree in Education, Psychology/Child Development, Social Sciences, or other relevant discipline, with at least 2 years’ experience in stakeholder engagement, training, and project management.
- Report preparation and knowledge documentation.
- Experience in working at sub-national and community levels.
- Ability to maintain confidential information.
- Irreproachable behaviour and commitment to the protection of children and respect for the rights of the child.
Desirable

- Ability to establish good working relationships with partners and staff.
- Ability to work under pressure, well organized, with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across cultures, including with team members and those based in other countries.
- Ability to ride a motorbike with a valid riding license
Languages
- Fluency in written and spoken English, and a Ghanaian language, preferably Twi.
Skills
- Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills in English
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Excellent stills in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
