Job Description

Asanko Gold Ghana Ltd is seeking to employ a well-motivated and experienced Maintenance Planner to join the team. The successful candidate will contribute to the planning, scheduling, and coordination of all maintenance activities within the Processing Plant to ensure equipment reliability, minimal downtime, and efficient operations.

A Maintenance Planner develops and manages maintenance plans, ensuring equipment operates efficiently and reliably. They are responsible for scheduling and coordinating maintenance activities, including preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance. This role also involves ensuring resources are available and tracking work orders to minimize downtime and maximize equipment lifespan

JOB PURPOSE
To develop and manage maintenance plans, ensuring equipment operates efficiently and reliably. The candidate will be responsible for scheduling and coordinating maintenance activities, including preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance. The role will also ensure the availability of resources and track work orders to minimize downtime.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement maintenance plans.
  • Establish the preparatory work required before schedule equipment downtime.
  • Develop a detailed job plan with all the work sequences involved to complete the repairs, as well as equipment downtime and man-hours required.
  • Determine and list all the safety procedures associated with the work to be performed.
  • Develop a tool list specific to the job to be performed.
  • Provide a parts list with reference numbers and exact locations for every work order and ensure that all required parts are on site before job scheduling.
  • Ensure all technical specifications and special instructions are documented and submitted to the Supervisor and tradesmen.
  • Determine the cost involved for parts and supplies for each work order.
  • Request all non-stock parts and materials as required by the job plan.
  • Inform the Maintenance supervisors when a job is ready for scheduling.
  • Assist in the annual budgeting process and monthly forecasting.

Required Skills or Experience

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Knowledge and Experience

  • Degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering, or related qualification from a recognized tertiary institution.
  • Five (5) years in Maintenance Planning and Scheduling (including managing shutdown planning and execution) in a mining industry.
  • At least 2 years’ experience leading a team of technicians or planners

Skills

  • Experience in planning major shut down operations in a mining or similar industry.
  • Ability to use analytical tools such as Pareto, Six Sigma methodology for process analysis.
  • Knowledge and experience of operations and maintenance work practices and procedures.
  • Must have good experience in related CMMS software.
