Job Description

Job Summary

The Head of School will be responsible for the overall leadership, supervision, and performance management of the Primary and Junior High School. This includes overseeing academic programs, ensuring BECE readiness, leading staff development, monitoring teaching and learning through effective Monitoring & Evaluation, and driving enrolment growth. The successful candidate must also be conversant with the use of technology as a tool for teaching, learning, monitoring, and evaluation.

Key Responsibilities

Academic Leadership & Monitoring

  • Ensure full implementation of the Ghana Education Service (GES) curriculum at all levels
  • Supervise lesson planning, teaching delivery, and assessments
  • Lead academic interventions and strategies to improve learning outcomes
  • Oversee and implement Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) systems to track student and teacher performance
  • Ensure timely preparation of BECE candidates, including mock exams and remedial support
  • Leverage technology to support teaching, learning, and real-time assessment tracking

Staff Supervision & Management

  • Provide strategic leadership and support to teaching and non-teaching staff
  • Lead staff performance appraisals and provide mentorship and coaching
  • Organize and facilitate continuous professional development (CPD) sessions
  • Promote the use of digital tools for lesson delivery and classroom management
  • Ensure high levels of staff motivation, accountability, and teamwork

Administration & School Growth

  • Lead and support enrolment drives, school marketing activities, and community engagement
  • Maintain high standards of discipline, safety, and school culture
  • Prepare and manage academic reports, school events, timetables, and general school operations
  • Liaise with the Director and Board on strategic planning and reporting

Required Skills or Experience

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Education (Master’s degree is an advantage)
  • At least 5 years of teaching experience and 3+ years in a leadership role
  • Strong understanding of the GES curriculum and BECE examination requirements
  • Experience with Monitoring and Evaluation tools in education
  • Conversant with the use of technology for teaching, learning, monitoring, and evaluation
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, solve problems, and drive school growth
