Job Description

A reputable and rapidly growing organization is seeking the services of smart, confident, performance-oriented and experienced professionals to occupy the position of Risk Officer.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

  • To perform credit risk assessment reviews on loan files prior to final approval and disbursement
  • To participate in the development or design of risk reporting tools.
  • To support the Risk Manager in the identification of Operational and Market related risks, generating adequate documentation and control tools where applicable.
  • To document and provide reports on all reviewed credit files, supporting development of risk-based controls and input for training.
  • To support the Risk Manager in supporting the management of delinquency and Credit Risk Related losses using segmentation tools to guide proactive collection efforts.
  • To champion the implementation of the Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) as a key framework in promoting operational risk awareness, culture and management

Required Skills or Experience

Career Profession (suggested):

  • Minimum of BSc/BA in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, or Business.

The Risk Officer requires:

  • Advanced skills in any/all the following areas: microcredit lending, Credit Risk Modeling/Analysis, banking operations and financial knowledge.
  • Knowledge of Portfolio Risk/Management within financial business. 
  • Clear understanding of portfolio risks related to microcredit delivery, default factors, vintage and delinquency trends.
  • Knowledge of credit, operations and market risks.
  • Knowledge of standard reports required for Credit Business Management

Experience Required

  • Experience of 2 to 3 years in individual lending and/or banking operations in a bank or MFI. In exceptional cases of high caliber and proven achievements in a management position in an MF organization, the term of experience and/or qualification may be reduced.
  • Background in financial analysis with Ms-Excel, statistics or programming is ideal.

  • Basic accounting knowledge, Basic marketing skills, Knowledge of credit & operational processes, Computer/technical skills, Knowledge of Statistics and/or financial analysis. In addition, practical knowledge in Spreadsheets and other Microsoft applications is highly required.
