Job Description

🔧 Role Overview

As a Solar Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development, implementation, and performance evaluation of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. You will work closely with project managers, field teams, and stakeholders to ensure optimal system performance and compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

🛠️ Key Responsibilities

  • Design and size off-grid, grid-tied, and hybrid solar PV systems using software such as PVsyst, Helioscope, AutoCAD, or similar tools.
  • Conduct site assessments, energy yield analysis, and feasibility studies.
  • Supervise and support installation and commissioning of solar power systems.
  • Analyse system performance, diagnose faults, and propose efficiency improvements.
  • Prepare and review technical documentation, including engineering drawings, BOQs, and installation manuals.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant electrical and renewable energy codes and standards.
  • Liaise with vendors, clients, and local authorities throughout project lifecycles.

Required Skills or Experience

🎓 Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in solar PV system design and implementation.
  • Proficiency in PV design tools (e.g., PVsyst, AutoCAD, SketchUp, or similar).
  • Solid understanding of electrical circuits, batteries, inverters, and power electronics.
  • Knowledge of international and local solar installation standards
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with battery storage systems (e.g., Li-ion, LFP).
  • Familiarity with solar pumping and mini-grid systems.
  • Certification in solar PV installation or design (e.g., NABCEP, REIP, etc.).
  • Experience working in rural or off-grid solar energy and batteries system
