Job Description
The Stores & Logistics Assistant plays a key supporting role in the day-to-day operations of the stores and logistics functions. This position works in close collaboration with the Stores & Logistics Officer and the broader logistics team to ensure efficient inventory management, timely distribution, and smooth operational workflows. The role reports to the Stores and Logistics officer.
Key Responsibilities
- Assistant by ensuring that stock is accurately received, recorded, stored, and dispatched as per the company procedures and timelines
- Provide general support to the Stores & Logistics Officer/Supervisor in the day-to-day tasks
- Assist with all inventory-related tasks linked to purchase and sales orders.
- Ensure timely and accurate documentation and approval of goods received or dispatched.
- Work effectively by entering newly received items into the system correctly and promptly
- Ensure physical inventory matches stock records (bin cards or system) during cycle counts
- Participate in weekly stock audits as directed by the logistics team
- Support the preparation of quotes for items when required and flag irregular stock levels to prevent outages or excess stock
- Assist in keeping store areas clean, well-organised, and secure
- Support internal and client requests accurately and on time, including required documentation
- Assist in the handling and tracking of consignment stock
- Carry out any other reasonable duties requested by supervisors
Required Skills or Experience
Qualifications
- First Degree/Higher National Diploma in Supply Chain Management
- Proven knowledge in stores and logistics
- Other professional qualifications, ideally in Project Management or Marketing will be an advantage
Experience/Skills
The candidate must have;
- At least three (3) years’ experience in a similar role
- Ability to communicate clearly with supervisors and support continuous improvement
- Able to learn product and process knowledge relevant to the role
- Support colleagues when needed and take initiative in assigned tasks
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent report writing skills, analytical,
- Ability to work on own initiative and at long periods
- Ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines
- A team player, confident self-starter, culturally sensitive, assertive, and reliable
- Strong interpersonal skills, flexible and proactive approach to work
