Job Description
BGSL is seeking applications from competent, dynamic and self-motivated individuals to fill the following position: Social Performance Officer
PURPOSE
- Support in the operationalization of all SEPM activities including strengthening of learning across BGSL via knowledge generation, management, application and evaluation of knowledge resources.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in conducting regular orientation and training for MF staff to build internal capacity to implement USSEPM and Client Protection Principles (CPP) at all levels of operations to improve practices in achieving compliance targets
- Act as support in ensuring all staff understand the correct practices in dealing with clients, and are always adhering to Client Protection Principles (CPP)
- Regularly visit field staff to identify gaps in practice at branch level, and report gaps for closure.
- Help prepare regular progress reports.
- Assist in social outreaches and outcome data collection and reporting; poverty and rural outreaches and social outcomes.
- Assist in the planning and the rolling out of initiatives such as Financial & Digital Literacy to clients.
- Assist in organizing training throughout the year for staff and clients on relevant topics.
- Act as support in conducting periodic client and staff surveys to identify challenges they are facing, and propose solutions.
- Regularly assist in preparing reports on SEPM and Impact outcomes to Management and Board.
- Ensure lessons are documented and shared on new projects related to SEPM (e.g. Financial & Digital Literacy).
- Work closely with DFS and IT teams to ensure learning is captured synergistically and reporting is smooth and functional.
- Assist in maintaining SEPM database and tracking of KPIs of ongoing pilots and projects.
- Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the programme’s goals on safeguarding implementation.
- Act as support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
- Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
- Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
Safeguarding Responsibilities
- Establish a safeguarding culture across all levels of the programme by implementing the safeguarding policy.
- Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
- Responsible to ensure team members are appropriately trained, supported and have access to resources regarding issues that are identified and actioned in accordance with the safeguarding policy and procedure.
- Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.
Required Skills or Experience
SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION
- Bachelor’s / master’s degree
- Concentration / Major: Business Administration, Economics, Data Analytics, Sociology, Education, Psychology or Development Studies
EXPERIENCE (Including sector/industry)
- At least 1-3 years’ experience in the development sector, preferably in microfinance.
- Good knowledge in computing and related systems
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- Familiarity and experience with microfinance operations and the human-centered design process.
- Willing to travel extensively across country (more than 50% of the time).
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated experience with planning, project management and decision-making.
- Knowledge of Microsoft office application (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint)
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills and leading data collection practices and the ability to work with quantitative and qualitative information.
- Drive, flexibility, resilience, and the ability to work under pressure
- Ability to work in ambiguous environments, with minimal structure.
- Fluency in English required (spoken, reading, and written).
