Job Description

The Tanker Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of fuel/water/chemical tankers (depending on company use). The role ensures timely delivery, adherence to road safety regulations, and proper handling of the tanker vehicle to support the company’s logistics and operational needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive and operate tanker vehicles in compliance with road safety laws and company policies.
• Load, transport, and deliver assigned products (e.g., fuel, water, chemicals) safely and on schedule.
• Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the tanker to ensure roadworthiness.
• Maintain accurate delivery and trip records (logbooks, fuel slips, delivery notes, etc.).
• Ensure proper securing and handling of cargo to avoid spillage or loss.
• Report vehicle faults, damages, or incidents promptly to the supervisor.
• Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for loading and offloading materials.
• Uphold high safety standards, including the use of PPE and adherence to HSE policies.
• Maintain cleanliness of the tanker vehicle at all times.
• Provide support in any other logistics or fleet-related assignments when required.

Required Skills or Experience

• Valid Driver’s License (appropriate class for tanker operation).
• Minimum of [3–5] years’ experience as a professional driver, preferably with tanker trucks.
• Knowledge of road safety regulations and defensive driving techniques.
• Experience in handling hazardous or flammable materials (where applicable) is an added advantage.
• Ability to complete delivery documentation accurately.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Physically fit and able to work long hours, including weekends or shifts if required.
• Must reside in Nungua or its environs.
