Event Description

The College for Community and Organisational Development (CCOD) and the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) are pleased to invite the general public to a five day (weekend only) professional training programme. 

Course Description

The EMODAL has been designed to help leaders, teams and organisations/ institutions to have the ability to recognise the chemistry-of-strengths and values of what works best in every situation, especially in the field of community development, team transformation, discovery programming, managing people and institutional effectiveness.

This EMODAL is an indigenous knowledge created by Dr. Gabriel Benarkuu in 2015 and powered by the Institute of Organization Development (IOD) - Florida, USA, for African Leaders, Managers and Consultants.

The EMODAL programme will prepare participants to have adequate OD knowledge and wisdom, able to intervene in a rapid, inremental transformational and complex OD situations - thus making EMODAL practitioners ready for consulting services. 

It also seeks to introduce participants to OD theory and practices using appreciative inquiry (AI) principles and approaches and thereby enhance their capacity to replicate transformation at all levels of their teams/organisations. 

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, participants will be able to 

  • Recognize that Appreciative Leadership mobilizes creative potential and transforms it into positive power
  • Appreciate how to recognise and measure the Human potential, situational potential, organizational potential,and community potential - strengths, capabilities, abilities and talents-remain implicit until spoken into life.
  • Appreciate that words, language and metaphors are among the most versalite tools of Appreciative Leadership. They evoke meaning , emotions, and reasonance among people.
  • Identity and accurately discover and create innovation in strategic issues of concern
  • Accurately identify their own emotions and tendencies as they happen
  • Appreciate the skill in treating people according to their emotional reactions
  • Develop the ability to recognize and understand their moods, emotions and drives as well as their effect on others in the workplace
  • Appreciate that Action research gives credence to the development of power of reflective thought, discussion, decision, and action by ordinary people participating in collective research on 'private troubles" (Wright Mills, 1959) that they have in common
  • Appreciate team building and get everybody involved in a transformation agenda
