Job Description

  • Direct Reports: Senior HR Supervisor, Senior Supervisor - Training & Development, Senior HRIS & Performance Management, Industrial Relations Coordinator

Job Purpose
To support the Departmental Head in the effective leadership, oversight, and execution of all strategic programmes, plans, projects, and initiatives within the HR & Media Department, ensuring alignment with the Company’s current and future human capital requirements, in accordance with established policies, standards, statutory obligations, and industry best practices.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support the Manager in developing staffing/manning plans & requirements across all departments and providing workable interventions to address any challenges in that regard. This includes assisting in implementing the Company's hiring/recruitment/ talent acquisition plans, engagement and separation activities to ensure the ready availability of labour, such as job description drafting, interviews, aptitude tests, and all related issues.
  • Support the Manager in aligning the rewards, incentives, remuneration/ compensation and/or benefits system to be competitive and supportive of the company strategy and organisational culture.
  • Actively support the development and implementation of the employee performance management/Key Performance Indicator (KPI) processes to ensure optimum performance, productivity and growth.
  • Ensure effective engagements with internal and external stakeholders for the smooth running of or implementation of HR programmes.
  • Lead in generating the requisite reports, dashboards & analytics to guide management's decision making and fulfil statutory obligations. This includes periodic and ad-hoc reports in line with deadlines.
  • Manage the general HR administration issues, HR payroll processing and employee support systems in a timely and effective manner.
  • Provide active support and initiatives regarding employee relations and ensure harmonious industrial relations to promote sustainable production and growth.
  • Support the training function to ensure the development of a multi-skilled and capable workforce to meet the current and future skills needs of the Company.
  • Support the training function to establish and implement career/ employee development programmes, activities and initiatives and assist in succession planning and talent management programmes for the Mine.
  • Develop the requisite templates, standards, guidelines and procedures within the area of domain to ensure the Company follows the best standards.
  • Perform any other related duties based on the exigencies of the Company as assigned by the Supervisor.

Required Skills or Experience

Minimum qualification (s)

  • Degree in Human Resource, Business Administration, Social Sciences or relevant discipline.
  • Recognised professional HR certification.
  • A member of a recognised HR Professional Institution in Ghana or abroad, e.g., CIHRM-Ghana, SHRM, CIPD.

Experience (Minimum)

  • Minimum of ten (10) years of middle-level management experience as an HR generalist in a multi-national mining, extractive or manufacturing company industry.
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of HR practices in the mining, manufacturing, technology industry or similar environment.

Knowledge (In-depth)

  • In-depth working knowledge of Ghanaian Labour Laws & legislations
  • In-depth working knowledge of HR internal controls & efficiency practices
  • Understanding of the Minerals and Mining Law & Regulations as it relates to labour and expatriation.
  • Excellent working knowledge of remuneration and reward principles and practices
  • Excellent working knowledge of corporate governance & ethical practice.
  • Ability to conduct competency-based/ behavioural interviews.
  • HR Risk management.
  • Scheduling and time management.

Skills

  • Strong research & statistical evaluation techniques.
  • Good negotiation techniques and highly adept at conflict management.
  • Team orientation (ability to work in a team).
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills as well as the ability to interact with people of diverse cultures and levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and HRIS systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organisation.
